Galway Sports Partnership are running a Summit Steps Hillwalking Programme in Galway with Mountaineering Ireland and Beanna Beola Hillwalking Club.

"Summit Steps 8 week Programme"
Are you looking to get out into the hills, progress your walking, meet new friends and experience hill walking?
This eight-week programme will allow you to develop your confidence walking in higher terrains.
The walks are led by experienced club leaders and Mountaineering Ireland instructors across a range of hill walks in Connemara.
The Summit Steps programme includes:
- 8 x weekend (Sunday) walks in total and participants should be available to commit to attending all sessions throughout the programme
There will be no walk on the 6th of April or the 20th April (Easter Sunday) and the programme will be due to finish on the Sunday the 25th of May.
- Learn basic Navigation Skills with 2 hill skills days (13th April and 11th May) with a Mountainnering Ireland instructor
- Develop confidence walking in higher terrains

There will be an online briefing on Friday the 21st March at 7.30pm for all participants who have registered , a zoom link will be sent to your email.
The first will take place at Mauméan on Sunday 23rd March, and will be approx.. 2-3 hours in length
There will be 8 sessions in total and participants should be available to commit to attending all sessions throughout the programme
This programme is being subsidised by Galway Sports Partnership and Mountaineering Ireland, so participants ONLY PAY €50 (usually €100)!
Places are strictly limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Please note that the Summit Skills Programme takes place in hillwalking and hiking terrain, so participants will need a good base level of fitness.
